3. Apply the Formula

If the service duration is under 5 years, use this formula for calculating gratuity: Basic Salary x (21/30) x Years of Service. However, for a service period over 5 years, the detailed formula mentioned above needs to be used. 

4. Use an Online Calculator

To know an approximate amount of the gratuity, you can use an online calculator. However, the result needs to be verified with the official formula. 

Example: An employee with a basic salary of AED 12,000 has completed 5 years of service.
